There are no limits in a world powered by the cult of more. We are encouraged to acquire without limit…not only to succeed but to exceed.
There is always more to be had. Enough is never enough. We are pushed to measure ourselves by the standards set by society, often overlooking the fact that society is a nothing more or less than a collection of individuals.
Crowd mentality alters perspective. Conformity and uniformity is not only expected but often demanded.
Along the way self-perception becomes tarnished. We judge ourselves and find ourselves wanting…falling short…often failing.
Eventually we can find that we are in a position where we no longer consider ourselves to be enough.
We look inside and draw unsubstantiated conclusions and then punish ourselves accordingly. Our state of mind can be impacted more drastically by the way we see ourselves that by the way to world sees us.
We need to put more effort into knowing ourselves and then using that knowledge to better understand the person we are. Knowledge is power and knowledge of self is a survival component all too often overlooked.
It’s necessary to befriend ourselves and then build that into a loving relationship. That transition may involve changes in attitude and approach but they need to be changes that are self-dictated and self-directed, not forced on us by a society more impacted by mob rule than individual value.
There are times when more is less. It’s in those times that we can find peace and satisfaction.
