Expectations. Great Or Grate.

Life is such that it makes sense to expect the unexpected…to be aware…to ready ourselves for something we are not necessarily anticipating.

The downside, however, is that maintaining that level perception can weigh heavily on our mental resources. And it can tip over the edge into the abyss of fear.

Ideally we should be aware of our own level of psychological resources well before an event occurs. Scrambling to understand what is happening to us is made far more difficult if we are also scrambling to understand what is happening through us.

As far as possible, it is important to be at peace with ourselves…to understand our capacity and our limitations and to use that knowledge to establish personal boundaries.

Once established, boundaries should be respected. It’s when we step outside them that we lose clarity and our judgement is impaired.

What we think can always be altered or adjusted by spending time examining why we think the way we do. Knowing ourselves better is at the core of mental wellbeing.

It’s essential that we work on resolving any confusion around our own identity. If we do not know who we are then it is more than unreasonable to expect others to develop that understanding and give us the love and attention we seek.

There is always something new, exciting and challenging just over the horizon. But the horizon is our limitation. It’s our extended border not our beginning.

There is enough right here and right now to deal with and that should be our first priority.
