What we think can sometime surprise and even scare us. We question the source and motivation of random thoughts that sit outside our accepted boundaries of reason and common sense.
The same can be said for the things we sometimes dream. We can become unsettled by the images we see during our sleeping hours.
The problem is that we can become afraid of ourselves and that fear can become very destructive.
For that reason it is important to understand that our thoughts and our dreams only have the power we give to them.
If we empower the negativity we encounter both inside our own minds and in the community around us only damage can result.
It’s what we do with what we have, hear and imagine that determines who we are and how we will live our happiest life.
If we focus too much attention on the negative then that becomes the dominant force. Alternatively giving all our energy to the positive while ignoring the negative is no way to achieve balance. And it’s balance that we both seek and crave.
Most of us are far stronger than we give ourselves credit for being. Most are far more resilient.
But while we all have a core psychological strength it needs to be developed and strengthened. And that’s where personal responsibility comes in.
