As different as we are as individuals, we have so much in common.
At the top of the list of the ties that bind is the need to love and be loved. We spend our entire lives seeking connection. We bond with others at many different levels and put so much emotional energy into making and breaking relationships.
Another thing we all want is safety but while we are acutely aware of the need to ensure our physical wellbeing we all too often ignore the importance of our mental wellbeing.
We go to great lengths to protect our bodies but make precious little effort to protect our minds.
Mental health is in decline. More and more people are carrying injuries and pain that is not visible. In this instance though out of sight is anything but out of mind.
We take risks with our mental wellbeing that we would never contemplate taking with our physical wellbeing. Worse than that, we ignore signs that are clear indications of a real and threatening problem.
We all need a safe place and the safest of all places should be in a protected and guarded mind space.
It’s vital that we take the time and the care to look inside and make the adjustments needed to calm our own turmoil.
It’s our individual responsibility to keep ourselves safe.
Like a big, warm mental hug!
