The Self On The Shelf

Throughout anyone’s life there are any number of missed opportunities…chances gone begging, circumstances sidestepped, offers ignored.

What we experience or fail to experience has to as much to do with time as it has to do with place. It’s only when those two factors converge and combine with curiosity that opportunities are embraced.

And while not every outcome is a welcome outcome all are learning experiences offering us the chance to move to the next stage of our existence.

We gain through pain and our mental health and stability depends on what we take from our encounters with others and the world in general along the way.

Change is inevitable. Acceptance of change is an individual experience.

Nothing we can do can stop the universe turning around us but there is much we can do to stabilise and bolster the world that is within us.

It’s important to work to be happy in the space we occupy. But first must come acceptance of the fact that we are all responsible for our own happiness. Our world is very much what we make of it.

What we do with what we have is the foundation for who we are.

Success and happiness start from inside the person we have made ourselves to be. The responsibility is ours along with the consequences.

  1. What is the measure of success? Is happiness greater than peace of mind? Which one do we strive for and which one do we just accept. Do we always need to have an aim or can we just live and stop to smell the roses. Who then measures our success? Are we happy with thier judgement or does it make us unhappy to hear it.
