The Reason For Being

One of the greatest challenges we will face is discovering our reason for being. That we are here is obvious. Why we are here is a concept far more difficult to grasp. It’s certainly not immediately obvious.

There are those who struggle with the why. Conflicted and confused they battle the demons of uncertainty.

The problem is that they become distracted from life’s other great questions…the more important things we all must come to terms with if we are to experience a life well lived.

Before we get to the why we must learn the who, what, when and where of ourselves. That takes effort and time. It’s a journey of discovery and it’s best done in a particular order.

Before we can hope to achieve our potential we must first know who we are. If we are uncertain…if we are unable to be honest with ourselves…if the who we are is a stranger to ourselves or someone we are unable to accept and love the issue must be faced. Failure to do so will impede our progress and stunt our growth.

Having established who we are we must them come to terms  with what we are. It’s the who that determines the what. The what shapes our opinions, behaviours and attitudes and the direction our lives will take. The what can change over a lifetime.

When we are is next and it’s important. Living in the past or fearing the future is detrimental to our well-being. The when is and must be now.

Where is all about plans, ambition and development. If we understand where we have been and where we are we can then work towards where we want to be.

It’s after all that is understood…the who, what, when and where…that the why will become clear.
