Tackling Today’s Troubles

Every day is a mix of good and bad, troubles and rewards, doubt and certainty. The overall theme of the day is very much dependent on where we choose to place the emphasis.

We can put our effort into positivity or we can put the same amount of effort into negativity. Whatever the consequences they are ours and ours alone.

The truism that each day has enough trouble of its own should be enough to dissuade us from trolling over our past or predicting our future. This day, this next hour warrants our undivided attention – or at least as much as we can manage to give it.

But just as each day has enough trouble of its own it can be argued that each day potentially has enough peace and harmony of its own. Survival or failure is all about accentuating one over the other. At the very least the best we can hope to expect is balance.

When dealing with the issue of balance it’s a very good idea to start where we are…not where we’ve been or where we are going.

This point in time and the next few seconds that will build into minutes is vitally important. Minutes build into hours and an accumulation of hours becomes a day.

If we are able to catch our breath and harness our thoughts in the here and now then the chance that we will steady ourselves and gain or maintain our balance is enhanced.

Life can be made easier if we live it as it happens. That’s not to suggest that self-indulgence is laudable. Living in the moment should always go hand-in-hand with treating those around us the way we would prefer to the treated.

It all takes effort and only the individual can decide the effort they are prepared to expend.

  1. Great example of mindfulness and grounding – found myself slowing down, concentrating on breathing and embracing the right now whilst reading.Thank you.
