Living life involves the ongoing effort of looking for the balance between action and reaction.
Both are needed. Without action there can be no progress, no development and little in the way of realistic expectation.
Without reaction there is no way of making sense of our situation and deciding if it’s the place we are content to stay.
Dreams and ambition are a normal state of being. Most of us spend more time looking outside of ourselves than we do looking inside. We are seeking something other than the norm that we are living.
It’s when we are called to react that we find it necessary to look inside in a bid to find whatever emotional resources we have stockpiled.
Our ability to cope is about who we are not what we have and there is a price to be paid for neglecting the former in pursuit of the latter.
Awareness is an essential survival tool. We need to know and understand our limits. That understanding can then be used to expand our horizons and protect our state of being.
Should there be a reasonable balance between the way we use the time we have in a creative sense then we are more able to deal with whatever it is that life hands to us.
Mental wellbeing starts with the kindness that needs to follow self-evaluation.
Life is made more difficult by neglecting the need for self-care.
Self-care is the action needed to strengthen and prepare for the reaction we will be required to make.
Finding the balance is sometimes more difficult than at other times but the effort we put into it should always be maintained.
