Ready For Anything

The unpredictable lies in wait. Sooner or later the unexpected will happen.

It can bring with it change in circumstance, direction or attitude. What we are, where we are and who we are can be altered in a heartbeat leaving us facing a new reality.

Our changed way of being may be temporary or permanent but it always demands a response.

We can choose to either opt for the supposed bliss in ignorance or we can accept that things now are no longer what they had been.

There is no way to prepare for the specifics of the unpredictable. It’s only when the future becomes the present that we can see it for what it is.

It is, however, possible to understand that the way it is now will not always be the way it will be.

Coming to terms with that level of acceptance is not easy but, for the sake of our mental wellbeing, it’s something we need to address.

There is a way to strengthen ourselves for whatever it is to come and that is by dealing with whatever is confronting us today.

Coping mechanisms and techniques can be very difficult to tap into at times of crisis but, if it’s not possible to be forewarned, then, at the very least, we can work on being forearmed.

Preparedness starts today. A greater understanding of what we think and believe and why we think and believe it will stand us in good stead when the challenges presented by the unexpected and unpredictable arise.

We can take our lead from those around us but our ultimate responsibility is to ourselves.

In times of crisis who we know ourselves to be is more important than how others perceive us to be.
