Sinking By Thinking

There are many times when what we expect or desire are well beyond the realms of possibility. The achievable may be believable but remains unattainable.

Recognition of that fact, however, is not permission to stifle our imagination. To do so would be to restrict our thoughts and emotions.

We need to think and we need to feel but we are not defined by the things we think and feel.

Personal definition is a process and, by default, it must be a personal process.

It’s how we deal with our thoughts and emotions that makes us the person we are. Definition comes through reaction.

It’s the innermost self that shapes us into how we present to the world around us.

Each and everyone of us is a work in progress. Experiences and relationships can have a far greater impact on our psychological health than images and ideas that occur with reckless abandon when least expected.

What we do with what we have makes all the difference.

But action must be preceded by understanding and acceptance. It’s important that we have a clear picture of who we are and where we are. Only then is change possible.

Change, however, must be desired. No one individual can successfully force change on another individual.

Which brings us to the issue of choice. We can choose to choose or we can refuse to choose.

In the final analysis our first responsibility is to ourselves…and that’s a responsibility that should always be taken seriously.
