A Friend In Need

Commonsense and caution should be two essential prerequisites in the decision-making process. Care and consideration must also be included. We want the decision we make to be the right one at the right time giving us a reasonable assurance of the best possible outcome.

But then the entire process can be derailed by self-doubt. Over-thinking can lead to second-guessing. What was once clear can become clouded.

There can come a point where we no longer trust the opinions and judgements of others. Worse still, we can lose perspective and no longer trust ourselves.

The truth is that we are all individuals and solutions and answers proffered by others may not be applicable or suitable to our particular problem.

All too often we know the answers we are seeking but we doubt ourselves.

There are times when the wisest course of action may be to “go with our gut”…to open ourselves to the understanding that we are more connected and somewhat wiser than we are willing to claim credit for being.

No-one knows us like we know us. No-one can be as honest and direct with the person we are than the person we are. We get to choose our own honesty or deceit.

There is a need to listen to what our head and heart is telling us so we can fully evaluate both our position and the direction we will choose.

First, though, we need to consolidate a relationship with ourselves…befriend and understand the person we are.

Only then can we gain the confidence to trust ourselves.
