Look, Listen And Learn

In a world where instant gratification is so readily achievable we run the risk of losing the appreciation and understanding that comes with patience.

Patience lies within the gap of idea and action. It’s that buffer that offers us the chance to reconsider.

What can seem like a good idea at the time can be seen in an altogether different light if we allow ourselves a little time to consider both the positives and the negatives.

If an offer appears too good to be true, if an opportunity presents itself as a once in a lifetime chance, if it seems to be a now or never situation, chances are there is something we are not seeing or not hearing.

Many a bad decision is made in haste leaving us with the unsavoury prospect of repenting at leisure.

Mistakes, miss-judgements and miss-calls are all part of life. It’s not possible to choose the right path every time.

But mistakes can be costly and the damage can be permanent. And there are mistakes that are avoidable.

We have all found ways to unnecessarily complicate our lives. But it is by encountering complications and resolving issues that we grow and mature.

It’s important to learn from the errors of our way but learning is not as instantaneous or as simple as a keyboard stroke. Nor is it as satisfying.

We learn by taking the time to consider all aspects of planned action relative to anticipated outcome.

We learn by giving ourselves to time to be patient…patient enough to be kind to ourselves.
