Writ, Wrote, Right

Calculated risk is a survival tactic. It’s a risk that precedes change…both positive and negative change.

We will not always get it right. There will be times when the wrong choice is made. At that point we must be prepared to live with the consequences. We have to come to an understanding of the direction our life has taken. We can choose to wallow in regret or build on the lessons learned.

The only place bliss comes before ignorance is in the dictionary. Choosing not to know is not the answer. Nor is choosing not to react.

That’s where calculated risk comes into its own.

There are both positives and negatives attached to every decision we make no matter how small. And, if we expect the best outcome, those factors have to be considered.

Over-thinking can cloud the issue. There’s a risk of becoming trapped in the no-man’s land of indecision.

A helpful tool is the simple written list. Exposing internal turmoil to the harsh light of day can be a useful tool when it comes to moving forward.

A written list can become a reference point free of much of the emotion surrounding random thought.

Risk calculation is something done both internally and externally and finding the balance can be difficult.

Benefits of the tactile approach cannot be overstated.

If we have a list where we can compare potentially positive outcomes with potentially negative outcomes we can see what it is that we have been thinking. That increases our chances of understanding leading to resolution before the consideration becomes a burden.

Life is difficult enough. It’s important to be open to ways that could make the path easier to walk.
