The way we react to the thoughts we have will very much dictate the direction our day will take. The direction of our days quickly becomes the direction of our life.
While we have little control over the thoughts we have it’s altogether necessary to either link them to our words and actions or separate them completely depending on their worth.
Our head and our heart are connected but one should not be allowed to rule over the other.
It’s important to consider the worth of ideas as they occur just as it’s important to consider the worth of the things we say and do.
An outlandish thought does not have to be followed by an outlandish action or statement.
Commonsense dictates where we set our boundaries. The problem is that it’s altogether too easy to override commonsense.
Between the thought and the action lies sufficient time to consider potential outcomes. The difficulty sits with the free will we have to make our own choices. We choose whether to acknowledge or ignore. We decide if the attitude we express through our words or actions is either positive or negative.
What’s left is consequence…the result of everything that preceded it.
Consequence can either be confronted and dealt with or ignored and stockpiled.
The difficulty with the latter choice is that eventually the load can become too great to carry.
And that is the dilemma facing so many people…the ever-increasing weight of stockpiled consequence.
It’s not possible to rewrite the past and correct our mistakes. For the sake of our own mental wellbeing it’s important to understand that we are flawed and imperfect while, at the same time, taking care not to use that as either a crutch or an excuse for failing to work on being the best possible version of ourselves.
