Seeing, Agreeing, Being

While it’s important to always strive for improvement it’s essential that we recognise our own limitations and restrictions. Ambition is one thing, practicality another.

Too many people are their own worst enemy. Self-imposed expectations lead to criticisms which descend into a form of self-hatred that not only limits potential but robs the individual of the joy of life.

A disproportionate amount of mental mental anguish can result from the image we have of ourselves. We can expect much more of the person we are than others expect. When those personal expectations become both unreal and unachievable, a negative self image is created. And that can be destructive.

Knowledge is power and what we know about ourselves can be used to build up or tear down the person we know better than anyone else.

It’s essential, therefore, that we nurture the ability to be kind to ourselves. We must see ourselves as valuable and, in that assessment, understand that we are worthwhile and that we have much to offer.

Too much time is spent looking beyond the mirror in a bid to determine what other people are seeing or expecting. Only by looking into the mirror can we see, understand and appreciate our true self.

There is no such thing as a perfect state of mind or a perfect state of being but there is always room for growth and improvement.

Every day presents us with an opportunity to become a better version of ourselves. The challenge is there. The reward is worth the effort.
