Minutes Can Be Ours

Dissatisfaction and uncertainty can lead to the desire for a reset fuelled by the belief that if things now were as they were then, life would be better. While commonplace, such a belief is seriously flawed.

Scratching the surface of the “if onlys” can uncover a bottomless pit of sadness and despair.

Imagining how things could have been may be a distraction but it does nothing to alter the state of reality in real time.

Everything we have done and experienced – good, bad and indifferent – has brought us to this very place in time.

We are here and this is now and that is a truth that must be both accepted and understood.

Nothing can be done to change the person we are nor the space we occupy at this very moment.

But the clock keeps ticking. Time moves on. This moment is followed by the next moment, this hour by the next and this day by the one after it.

Retrospective change is not possible. That which was continues to be.

That, however, is not the end of the life story because subsequent change is always within reach. That which is can be a foundation for that which is to come.

We all have a past. That is gone. We all have a future. That starts today and every day is a fresh opportunity.

The choice is ours and ours alone…whether to be victims of our past or masters of our future.

Every minute of every day is a chance to make a difference.
