To Know Or Not To Know

We are all looking for answers. There will always be something that makes us curious…something that needs explanation.

The problem is that the information we seek is often unavailable. There are some things that will forever remain a mystery. We will never know all that we expect to know. We will never understand all that we believe we are entitled to understand.

That can result in confusion, disappointment and depression. But it should never stifle curiousity.

We have a need to know. Knowledge is power however the reckless pursuit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Curiousity should always be balanced with a degree caution.

It’s important that we come to terms with the fact there will always be some things that leave us puzzled and unfulfilled. There will always be gaps between what we know and that which we believe we should know.

That’s where a certain amount of discipline is necessary. Persistent worry about the “what ifs”, the “possibilities” and the “maybes” can upset our grip on reality and impact on our mental health.

Concentrating on the “could have beens” can result in a lack of attention being paid to the here and now.

For both our mental and physical wellbeing it’s best to live in the moment.

Each days brings with it challenges and rewards and each day is challenging enough in and of itself.

The answers may be out there somewhere but we need to accept and understand that we are not meant to know them all.
