Fear Today, Gone Tomorrow

At any given moment the space we occupy in our head, heart and environment can change shape.

At any given moment we can be forced outside the comfort zone we have worked hard to mold.

Our lives are not predictable. Things change…some over time and others in an instant. Circumstances and surroundings change. Where we were is no longer where we are. Who we were is not longer who we are.

Survival is very much about adaptabilty. It’s about the struggle for acceptance and understanding.

It’s not all about the things that happen to us because so much of that is beyond our control. Rather it’s about the things that happen through us. It’s about what we do with whatever life hands us.

Learning to expect the unexpected is important. While that does not mean living in a heightened state of awareness, it does mean understanding that the unwanted can happen at the most inconvenient time. Surprise events – both good and bad – are part of life. That much is a reality that must be accepted.

The psychological and physical benefits of living in the present moment are well documented.

Dealing with the here and the now is key.

Depression is risked when we look at the path behind us. Anxiety is increased when we look at the path ahead of us.

Where we are on the path right now is all important. Reality is today, our next thought, our next breath.

Today is the day we may have been fearing yesterday. It’s important to make the most of it.
