That which is most obvious can often be overlooked. The forest can easily be hidden by the trees. We can get so close to something that it is no longer seen.
Life is lived at a frenetic pace and so many things demand our attention. There is so much noise surrounding us that it’s not surprising that the din sometimes overwhelms us.
Without realising it we fuel our own anxiety levels and feed our stress. Our sense of control is weakened. We lose sight of the fact that need to be more caring of ourselves.
We all need to set aside time to refocus…to regather…to reset. We need to define what it is that we need before we start to consider what we want.
Mental health is all about balance. A step in any direction can alter that balance. It can take effort to steady ourselves and regain the control we need to have.
It’s vital that we set time aside to stop, step back and take a close look at both who and where we are.
Some call it a time out. For others it’s meditation. The label is unimportant because it’s all about the action.
Time taken on self care is never time that it wasted.
Our head and our heart are our responsibility. How we care for both – separately and in conjunction – is linked to our emotional wellbeing.
Repair and maintenance of both is not a job that can be outsourced.
It’s a duty of care that we ignore at our peril.
