There is no such thing as a perfect, faultless life. Good and bad co-exist. There are challenges and there are rewards.
Just as the earth needs both the sunshine and the rain to sustain life, so too do we need a mixture of emotional light and shade.
Survival is all about balance but it has to be balance both real and perceived. It’s about understanding and acceptance. Imagining how it could be is not living as it is.
Key to survival is being grateful for the situations, circumstances and possessions that surround us. What that means is adopting an attitude of gratitude.
That’s not being defeatist. It’s not a matter of settling. Gratitude is not a replacement for ambition.
It’s altogether possible for many dreams to become reality but the progression from imagination to culmination takes application. We are rewarded for the effort we are prepared to make. There are no free rides.
To be grateful for what we have we must first be grateful for the fact that we are. We exist. Now is real. It’s about today. It’s about living in the moment and for the moment.
If we spend now focussing on the negatives then we feed our own misery. But if we spend now being thankful for what we have then we lift our spirits to a happier and more satisfied level. It starts with the small things and the strength and knowledge we build helps us cope with the big things.
Life is good but it can only be as good as we allow it to be.
We get the choice.
