The Day To Decide

What we do with what we think today is of utmost importance. It’s in the processing of thought that we decide our direction. It’s when we apply common sense, lessons learned and basic logic that we enable ourselves to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Generally speaking our life journey is as difficult to negotiate as we allow it to be. We can choose to add to the weight of the baggage we are carrying by ignoring problems and challenges. Denial, however, is pointless. Refusal leads to confusion. Ultimately we reach a point where we are forced to face reality…where truth can no longer be avoided…where decision must be made.

We fuel our own mental anguish by embracing avoidance. We cause ourselves pain and suffering by ignoring the obvious.

The point is that there is nothing new under the sun. There is nothing we can think, feel or experience that has not already been thought, felt or experienced by others.

Accepting that frees us to believe that the answers already found by others are available to us. Help is out there. And it is freely available. Often, though, the most difficult thing to do is to admit to struggles and ask for help. But, while it may be the most difficult, it is also the most sensible.

It starts with a conversation…a serious and heart-felt chat with ourselves. It begins with a recognition of pain and confusion. It’s only by looking within that we can understand what it is that we are in need of.

Then comes the conversation with others. Verbal exchanges can be difficult but words have power. Talk is never cheap.

It’s when we give voice to that which is within us that we can start down the track to healing and, from healing, growth.

The first admissions though – the beginning of understanding – must take place in our own head and heart.

And the right time to start is this day that we have.
