Enough Is Enough

Despite personal conviction and regardless of belief in self we crave reassurance and approval.

It matters little what we believe and why we believe it, we still need to know that there are others of like mind.

Individuality is very much over-rated when it collides head-on with herd mentality. The clash generates doubt and doubt feeds anxiety.

We want to stand on our own two feet, to be our own person, to be recognised and respected for who we are…but we still need to feel that we are supported.

A problem arises if we seek that support from people whose opinions we do not value. That much, at least, is a waste of energy and resources.

But a common problem is our tendency not to back ourselves. We make decisions and seek direction based on our accumulation of knowledge and experience. And while that is as it should be we are left with the doubt that perhaps the person we are is not enough…that we are in some way inadequate when it comes to individuality and making a success of that individuality.

The point that is missed is that we are enough. We are enough to be ourselves. We are enough to stand alone and be acceptable. We are unique and it’s in being unique that we are enough.

We are enough for today and today is all we have.

The person we were yesterday has passed with time. The person we will be in the future is the person that awaits us.

We have today and we can choose to accept the opportunities of the day by stepping forward into them or reject them by stepping back.

Every day is a fresh chance to accept who we are and where we are and to understand that, in this fraction of time, we are enough.

If we accept that about ourselves we will ease our stress and anxiety levels and enjoy this day for what it is.
