What we desire can often fall short of what we have just as where we are is not necessarily where we want to be.
The point we tend to miss is that today is not yesterday and neither is it tomorrow. Today is unique and we can either accept it or reject it.
We have a choice and that choice must be made on a daily basis. We can either work on improvement or wallow in despair. We can either be grateful for what we have and who we are or regret what we had and who we were.
We can choose to live in the when that has passed, the what that is the future or the where that is the now.
Confusion and uncertainty are the results of refusing to acknowledge the reality of the day we are living and confusion and uncertainty lead to mental anguish and imbalance.
It’s when we choose not to live in the moment and not be present in the time and place we are occupying that we can lose focus.
Now is the moment and it’s important to seize it, own it and use it.
What we do with the thoughts we have should be reduced to a matter of choice. This very second could be the most important second in our lives. What we decide, do or say with our next breath could change the direction of the lives we are living.
Acceptance is key. Acceptance is not defeat. Acceptance is understanding. Acceptance comes through self-knowledge.
It’s only by accepting where we are that we can start working towards where we want to be.
It’s only by accepting who we are that we can starting building ourselves into who we want to become.
And no-one can do it for us.
