Believe In Belief

It’s generally understood that everyone has their limit…their breaking point…that moment in time when coping mechanisms fail and the grip on sanity slips.

But there’s a gap between understanding and reality. It’s in that gap that most of us spend most of our time.

The survival instinct is strong. The reality is that most people are far tougher than they themselves believe is possible. The problem is that we are unable to appreciate our own strength until that strength is tested. But that’s where fear comes in and anxiety is generated.

Anxiety inhibits potential. For to many of us, there is more threat than potential in the unknown.

The result is that we wait for what’s coming to us rather than stepping into the uncertainty of the future. We miss chances and waste opportunities.

When it’s all said and done there is a far greater chance of regretting the things we did not do in our lifetime than there is of regretting the things that we did do.

The place that we are in our lives right now was reached because we allowed our strengths to overcome our failings. And, for that, we deserve credit.

We are stronger, wiser, braver and more capable than we allow ourselves to believe. It’s that lack of belief in ourselves that limits and restricts us.

There is great strength within.
