Electronics may have done their bit to simplify connection but, at the same time, communication has been compromised.
True communication can only be fully achieved when two people occupy the same space at the same time and make eye-to-eye contact. It’s the physical proximity that makes the world of difference.
It’s when we are in company that we can honestly communicate.
Loneliness is at pandemic proportions and, more often than not, it has little to do with being alone.
Head and heart combine to link with those around us through the eyes. If we fail to look we will fail to see and when we fail to see we can fail to feel. Emotional sensation is generated through the eyes. More than the mirror of the soul they are the keys to communication.
We can survive on electronically enhanced connection but it is more than a little difficult to both survive and flourish without the true company of others.
Words can be cobbled together in a coherent package and broadcast to express emotion and conviction. But words can also be manipulated.
At times they may be more difficult to read than at others but the eyes do not lie. It’s very much a matter of where we look, how we look and when we look that points to the truth of the person we are. That can only be evaluated, appreciated and understood in company not on a screen.
The eyes have it.
