Action Beats Words

There’s no doubt that many a mistake is made in haste. A lack of forethought and no heed paid to potential consequence add up to what could be a serious error. Hindsight can be a great leveller but it can also be an unreliable teacher.

But there’s a far more regrettable path that we can follow and that’s the path of procrastination fuelled by fear and uncertainty.

We may well live to regret our missteps but the depth of that regret will not match that which we feel when it comes to remembering chances missed and opportunities ignored.

We learn and grow by doing not by planning and imagining. Nothing speaks louder or is more powerful than action.

So much of the mental anguish so many of us suffer is not because we have tried and failed but rather that we failed to try.

Action following a snap decision is rarely advisable unless it’s a life or death situation. Weighing up the options and reaching a balanced conclusion is far more likely to result in a satisfactory outcome even if no action results.

We may live on limited time but that is never a good excuse for adding further unreasonable limitations to what we do with that time.

The application of common sense to the head and heart knowledge we accumulate as we move through life gives us the best opportunity of taking advantage of the opportunities that surround us all.
