Deciding The Direction

Depression can be the result of mistakes made in the past. Anxiety can be the result of the fear of mistakes that may happen in the future. One is impossible to change, the other impossible to predict.

Life can be about seeing plans and dreams through to fruition…happy outcomes, best results.

More likely though it’s about surviving the unexpected; making the most of whatever is at hand at any particular point in time whether what is at hand is good or bad.

Our mental wellbeing is dependent on our coping skills. It’s about living through disappointments and setbacks. And it’s about change and acceptance of change.

Where we are today is not where we where yesterday and not where we will be tomorrow. The person we are is not the person we were and not the person we have the potential to become.

Each day presents us with a new opportunity to change our situations, attitudes and perspectives. Each day demands acceptance of those opportunities. The choice though is ours. We can respond or reject. We can answer the call or we can ignore it. We can retreat or we can advance.

Fear and uncertainty are part of who we are. Both can be used as excuses or motivators.

The strength to grow and to change is also part of who we are. It’s up to us to decide the direction we will take.
