As necessary as it is for the protection of personal and mental wellbeing, a comfort zone can become an encumbrance and – at its worst – a trap.
If we persist in doing and thinking the things that present no real challenge, personal change and progress are hampered. We run the risk of restricting our time, our place and our potential.
A comfort zone should be more a place of protection and recovery than a room with no doors or windows.
It’s when we step outside and into the real world rather than restricting ourselves to living in a world of our own creation that we discover more about the person we are and the person we can be.
Not only do we have worth but we have potential. We can expect more, be more and give more.
The more we are, the more we can become. The more we become the more fulfilling our lives will be.
Change means embracing the new but rarely can we find anything new within the boundaries of our comfort zone.
Venturing out requires courage….a vision and a plan. The first stage of that process could be reaching out; admitting the need for some assistance and accepting it when it’s offered.
Our comfort zone should be kept in reserve as our place of retreat not defeat.
