A Tender Agenda

It’s important to be content with where we are and what we have…content in the moment…content in the time and place we occupy.

Contentment, however, does not rule out ambition. The former is for now, the latter for then.

While contentment and happiness often occupy the same space, they are not the same thing.

A change in circumstances will never happen of its own volition. We must have an agenda…a list of things we want or need to do.

If we are determined to move forwards in our life, our job or our relationships, we must have a plan.

But then making a plan and holding to it comes with certain responsibilities. We have a duty to ourselves but we also have a duty to our fellow man. Our personal agenda – our plan moving forward – should not contain elements that deliberately stifle the plan or agenda or another.

We do not gain stature of any worth by clambering over other people. Individual success is empty and fleeting if its bedrock is the crushed hearts and souls of other people.

We do not have to look far to find people who know what it is that they do not want while, at the same time, being unable to understand or articulate that which they do want.

For our own mental wellbeing it’s important we make a determined effort to know, understand and love ourselves.

That is the key to a firm foundation.
