Whether by choice or circumstance we can be our own worst enemy creating problems that can be both unnerving and unnecessary.
In all kinds of relationships we have a grasp on what is expected of us. That, then, puts the responsibility of delivery back in our wheelhouse.
There are occasions when choice is taken from us…when there is nothing we can do or say that will affect the inevitable.
But there are many other times when we have the choice and – for whatever reason – we take the path that is most problematic.
The reality is that common sense is nowhere near as common as it should be.
Most of us have problem-solving skills. Most of us too also have problem-creating skills.
A happy life is to be found in the sweet spot that occupies the space between the two extremes. But we wax and wane. All too often we take our eye off the ball. We think we know better. We believe we can make the impossible possible.
There are both long and short-term implications and the worst of both sit with deliberate and chosen neglect.
There will always be things that catch us by surprise…that sneak up on us.
More often than not, however, we find ourselves in situations of our own creation.
It’s at that point that honesty and application have to kick in along with a refreshed determination to do better next time.
