There are times when the troublesome issue of our own mortality is presented to us in stark potential detail.
National, international and personal events shine a light on the inevitable.
Understanding that our life will end can be easier than accepting it as fact.
But there is nothing more than grief and mental torment to be gained from living in fear of death.
It’s far more productive and satisfying to love life; to make the most of every relationship and situation.
The bad in life will find us. Sadness and setback are part of living. That makes it all the more important to seek out the good and, when we find it, embrace it and hold it close.
The end will come. It’s out there somewhere waiting for us all.
The past is gone. We can make the consequences of historic decisions and actions a rod for our own back or accept that retrospective change is simply not possible.
That leaves us with today; the here and now. We are here and it is now and now is a time to be savoured. Now is a time to be shared; a time to be enjoyed.
Today will quickly become tomorrow’s yesterday. The only thing we know for certain is that we are here now.
We should not waste the opportunities. Now will never come again.
