The Value Of Being

So much self-inflicted anxiety stems from the mind-based battle between worth and value.

How we see ourselves is our self-worth; how the world sees us is our self-value. Rarely do the two intersect and form a comfortable and lasting relationship.

Too much time is spent on self-reflection which spins out into self-criticism. We become our own worst enemies. Our worth is downgraded at least as far as we perceive it.

It’s important that we get to know ourselves so that we can then love ourselves. Far too often though that knowledge results in self-hatred.

The world, however, looks beyond worth to value and the fact that we exist gives us that value.

We are here because we are meant to be here. We are here because we have a place and we have a role to play.

Every person is valuable…as part of a family, part of a community and part of a society.

Everyone has something to contribute…a reason for being.

Over-thinking or deliberate ignorance can lead us to misunderstand that we have a purpose.

It’s easy to confuse worth with value. Often it’s difficult to see ourselves through the eyes of others. Sometimes it can be easier to assume and accept the consequences of our own imagination.

There are those who know us and those who love us for who we are and the potential we have.

We need to put more effort into knowing that person too.
