While we must all accept the reality of consequence, there is little we can do but wait for the future to arrive.
What’s behind was, what’s with us is, and what lies ahead is shrouded in mystery, conjecture and – all too often – fear.
There is a real danger in reacting to something that is yet to happen. Anticipation can be a cruel master.
Investing too much time and emotion into something that may or may not eventuate can deplete our coping capacity. Today is enough and we need to be real and present to ensure we are enough for today.
Given a chance, todays become yesterdays. At the same time today points the way to tomorrow. All we have is what we have and that’s this very minute, the next breath, the next thought. We bring those aspects together when it comes to our next action. What we think today and what we do today sets the tone for our tomorrow.
Our next breath is a gift our bodies give us; our next action is entirely our own responsibility.
We choose what to do with what we think. That makes it imperative that we get to know ourselves and know ourselves well.
So much mental anxiety is linked to an internal disconnect. We can be the cause of our own suffering.
We can change that…if we so choose.
