A Friend In Deed

When desire exceeds satisfaction we can find ourselves in troubled waters. Focusing on what we want at the expense of appreciating what we have results in disappointment and can lead to depression.

Wants are linked to the future. Reality rests with haves.

Contentment is another issue altogether. Contentment suggests passivity…a lack of drive and vision. If we are content with what we have and who we are then there is very little likelihood that we will strive for improvement. The point is that situations and relationships can always be better and the person we are today can always be an improvement on the person we were yesterday.

While we can settle into contentment it takes effort to maintain satisfaction.

Too many people are unhappy with what they have and where they are and yet they lack the commitment to change.

Anxiety is a fear of that which we do not know. Peace is made up of realisation, acceptance and a healthy serve of ambition.

It’s important to understand all that it is that we have before stepping out to find what it is that we think we want.

We torture ourselves unnecessarily when we discard what we have before clearly defining what we want and how we will work towards attaining it.

Best to make a friend of who we are today before stepping into tomorrow as a stranger to ourselves.
