The Point Of Possibility

As much as we would all like to believe that all things are possible life teaches us that is simply not so.

Beyond the reach of the sincerest of hopes and outside the realm of the miraculous lies the sure knowledge that some things will never come to pass.

Wanting something is not enough. Needing something can be ultimately inadequate. The truth is that we do not always get what we desire or expect.

Accepting that we are part of a picture far bigger than ourselves can help us understand that both disappointment and reward sit at either end of a spectrum of experience we will encounter again and again.

Believing that we deserve a positive outcome is not enough to ensure it will be so.

Many people struggle with their inability to control every aspect of their existence. They are surprised when expectations fail to be met and saddened when relationships fail.

The point many people ignore or fail to understand that an individual can only do so much.

We should, for example, live at peace with our fellow man but only as far as it is possible.

At that is the point. We are limited in our ability to respond and our coping mechanisms are capped.

We can only do as much as is possible in a given time and place. To attempt to do more than is possible is invite disappointment.

Accepting an unexpected or unwanted outcome takes strength and courage.
