Make Time To Take Time

Daily life is demanding. We are surrounded by people who have needs. Many of those are demanding that their needs are met. Employers want more, family members want more, partners want more. And they all want more of us…our time and our emotional resources.

Little wonder then that we can feel both exhausted and empty by the end of the day. It’s our natural tendency to attempt to meet the needs of others that can leave us wanting.

It’s important to make the time to shift the focus – to look at what is going on inside of us rather than putting all our effort into trying to absorb everything that is happening outside of us.

Self-neglect is a significant contributing factor to mental anguish.

We all need a deeper and more connected understanding of the things that make us happy, of the things that make us sad and the things that create the circumstances that link both extremes.

Emotional regulation is essential. Identification of our emotional triggers is the first step. It’s only by knowing what it is that makes us tick that we can hope to avoid those things that make us explode.

Time taken to re-assess, restock and restore our mental wellbeing is time well spent. More than that, it’s essential.

We ignore the need to take that time at our peril.
