Care Starts With Self

In a world that pushes and pulls us in so many directions, never has self care been more necessary or more ignored.

The more we lose touch with the person we are, the more we run the risk of damaging our own wellbeing.

There is so much noise around us that it becomes increasingly difficult to hear the voice inside.

Commonsense can be overwhelmed by demands to contribute to the common good, peace and solitude surrendered to the clamour of the masses.

It’s when we are at our most confused that we are also at our most vulnerable.

Conscious effort needs to be made to take a step back. Time needs to be taken to rethink and refocus.

We need to remind ourselves that the head and the heart are linked; that if our thoughts are not organised our mental and physical health can be compromised.

Embracing self care is not the same as becoming self centred or self absorbed. The former is about understanding our own value while the latter is about misunderstanding it.

Taking the time to make regular checks on our state of mind is time well spent.

Others may be able to help us with the theory but the practice will always be personal.

We are every bit as reponsible for the who that we are as the what that we do.
