Who First, Then Why

While we all exist within the one reality, it’s individual perceptions of that reality that either unite or divide us. And it’s when we are governed and directed solely by the reality of our own creation that we can lose both focus and direction.

So much of the mental anguish we experience results from the clash of perceived realities. We see things our way depending on what we believe, what we understand and our mental and physical environment.

When we stop seeing ourselves as part of a family, a group or a community it becomes more difficult to be sympathetic and empathetic.

It’s only be accepting that not everyone shares our particular reality that we can live in harmony with ourselves and those around us.

As much as we are the same as other people, so too are we different. We all live within extremes of temperament and attitude.

The first step towards leading a balanced life is learning who we are and why we are.

When the who and the why are understood we can then move forward to greater knowledge of where we are.

Acceptance of self is not defeat. It is within us all to change. But without that acceptance we lack the basic strength to go out into the world and – as much as it is possible – understand others.
