It’s not what life throws at us that defines our joy and satisfaction. Nor is it the balance between the good things and the bad things in our lives. It’s all about coping.
Specifically it’s all about stress management. It’s about what we do with what we have, where we are and who we are.
Most of us have a tendency to stress about stress levels which does nothing more than increase the burden. We can become our own worst enemy if we allow it to go that far. It’s when the main fight is with ourselves rather than with the circumstances that surround us that we lose both perspective and control.
There are so many things that happen outside of ourselves over which we have no control. Some people never accept that. Their life is a struggle.
But when it comes to the matter of the head and the heart we can learn to know that which is best for us. We can – and must – take better care of ourselves than anyone else can.
A defining factor is brutal honesty. The truth is that, in the final analysis, we know the truth. Whether we choose to accept it or not is up to the individual.
How we allow ourselves to think and permit ourselves to act are reflections of our ability to cope. We are responsible.
