Best Of Worst Times

There are times when the pace of life and the weight of responsibilities intersect…times when challenges threaten to overwhelm our resilience…times when we question our capacity to cope and survive.

It’s at those times that it’s wise to remind ourselves that we are not alone. Other people are hurting. Other people are confused. Other people doubt themselves. There is nothing new under the sun.

A life well lived is not a life without struggle. But it’s at times when our spirits are low and our patience is being tested that we need to remind ourselves that a life well lived is also fulfilling and rewarding.

We put a great deal of times and effort into packing our personal grief case…the box where we store our defeats and disappointments. As time goes on the weight of our woes can tire us out.

The way to deal with setbacks is not to ignore them but to face them, deal with them and move forward.

That’s not to suggest that the pain ever disappears. But while the hurt is always not far from the surface it can be managed. What once ruined our life does not have to rule it today.

Life is what we make it. We get to choose. The responsibility is ours. And every day brings with it new opportunities.
