Community helps keep us grounded and connection is the key. We all have the need to feel that we are part of something and not just something apart.
And yet we all have the capacity to neglect or abuse already established connections. Apathy can lead to isolation.
One of the most significant contributors to mental wellbeing is the understanding and acceptance that there are people who think and care about us…that we have a place and we have value. Acknowledgement of our existence is important.
While the fact that we are here is self-evident, it’s through connection that we find our reason for being.
We all have a contribution to make to the lives of others just as we seek out those who make a contribution to our own lives.
Equally we have the capacity to find new connections as much as we have the power to close down or damage those that already exist.
Not every link is valuable and not every link is essential or sustainable…but every link is educational.
We learn about ourselves by observing others…how they think, what they say and what they do. Our understanding is drawn from reactions to the way they are and the way we are.
Happiness and connection are linked. So too are sadness and disconnection. We choose our own path.
