Change is rarely easy. Moving from one state of mind or one place of being to another can dredge up fears and uncertainties we had previously not realised existed or refused to accept.
Enforced change is one thing, chosen change another thing entirely.
But without change there can be no growth. Just as the world around us today is different to the world that was around us yesterday, we are different because of the changes that come with time.
There can be more mental anguish suffered in attempting to resist transition than there is in accepting the inevitable.
Learning not to dismiss our intuition and instinct is essential to our survival as complete and rounded individuals.
We know what we need and, generally speaking, we know when we need it.
Others will offer their advice and opinions either maliciously or supportively and, sometimes, it can be more than difficult to determine the intent.
For that reason it’s necessary that we learn the skills to become the guardians of our own hearts.
No-one is equipped to take better care of the who that we are than the who that we are.
First, though, it’s necessary to do the work to make a best friend of ourselves. And, having consolidated that connection, we have to learn to trust the advice our best friend is giving.
