There is no such thing as a charmed life. No-one makes the journey through from start to finish unscathed.
Things that happen to us leave us battered. Things that happen through us leave us shattered.
We are flawed beings living in a flawed world. We expect things of other people and we are disappointed when those expectations are not met. We feel even greater pain when we disappoint ourselves.
But life is very much what we make of it. It’s what we do with what we have and what we are given that makes the difference. It should not be about regretting the mistakes of yesterday or fearing the uncertainty of tomorrow. It should be about making the most of today.
Too much of our headspace is filled with “what ifs” and “if onlys”. All too often we are left emotionally exhausted.
It’s important to understand that we do not have to be defined by ourselves or others by the mistakes we have made. Our last action or decision – good or bad – may make us who we are in this moment but it’s our next move or decision that will make us who we can be in the next. And an improved version of ourselves is only a breath away.
Our life is our life. Our story is our story. We do the living and the telling.
