Knowing And Growing

Mental health and well being has far more to do with the relationship we have with ourselves than the relationships we have with others and that can be as difficult to understand as it is to accept.

Little wonder then that we can spend an inordinate amount of time looking for others to blame when we lose focus and direction.

Accountability is never easy. Responsibility can be even harder.

So much of the hurt and pain we go through can be traced back to the fact that, when challenged, we can readily assume the role of being our own worst company.

It’s difficult to accept that the enemy is within.

The need to become our own best friend and confidant is vital. We must first make peace with ourselves before we can give the best of who we are to other relationships.

And yet so many people live their lives in turmoil, at war with themselves.

Central to mental health is self knowledge and acceptance. Change plays a critical role in the process.

If who we are, what we think and how we behave falls short of our own standards or the standards to which we aspire then we will continually disappointment ourselves.

Living our best life means striving to be better today than we were yesterday.

It’s all about accepting the challenge and putting in the effort.
