Possible, probable, proven

We all have a tendency to hear what we want to hear and disregard the rest. There are things we are prepared to accept and others we will oppose.

At the heart of it sits our individual appetite for truth and the undeniable reality that truth is often painful. That appetite varies according to time and situation. Generally, though, we prefer to avoid hurt.

A problem arises when the separation between truth and lies becomes blurred…when our judgement becomes both questionable and unreliable…when there is less black and less white and more grey in what we see and hear.

We all have a moral compass. Each of us has a conscience. A sense of right and wrong is within us all. But we also have the capability and often the desire to ignore that which we know in our head, heart and gut to be correct.

We talk about destiny but we shape our destiny with our decisions. We want to believe in fate but where we end up is determined by the direction we are headed. The then and there has a direct connection with the here and now.

Angst is fuelled by avoidance, mental anguish grows out of shirked personal responsibility.

The solution starts with connection, specifically connection with self. From there just about anything is possible.
