Upside, Downside, Inside

Most of us are fully aware of our own short-comings. We know our weaknesses. Our failing are obvious to us.

We would all like to be better people…kinder, more patient, more loveable, happier. But we seek to lay blame for our circumstances on our environment and that’s a common failing.

If only our situation was different…more money, more possessions, more friends…then our life would be all that we imagine it could be.

And so we wait. We wait for the world around us to change. We wait for people to treat us the way we believe we deserve to be treated. We wait for the planets to align bringing with it a change to our prospects. We wait for our numbers to come up.

The flaw in that attitude is that we find ourselves waiting for something outside of us to change something inside of us…and that can be a wait without end.

The only changes we can control is what we think and who we are. Change and contentment are linked. So too are sanity and self.

Our level of stress and mental anguish are all about what we do with what we have and where we are. We make the decisions no-one else can make for us. Either that or we sit and wait until time runs out.
