The Anxiety Of Reality

Both the most obvious and most challenging aspects of the here and now is that the place is here and the time is now. This is no time for regrets and not the place for planning. The moment is now and we are in the moment and that demands action. Avoidance is not the answer and ignorance is most certainly not bliss.

It’s a daunting reality. What we say and do now is recognition of where we have been and an indicator of where we are headed.

Little wonder then that reality generates as much anxiety as regret and anticipation.

We all have responsibilities. Family, friends, acquaintances…everyone and every situation we encounter asks something of us.

The problem is that the burden of both real and perceived duty and expectation can distract us from the heart of the matter and the heart of the matter is the matter of the heart.

When we lose touch with the person we are – when we spend all of our time and effort looking outwards and none of it looking inwards – we run the risk of stumbling and falling.

The true worth of an individual is measured more by what they offer than by what they take. Contribution will always win over accumulation. But each one of us must decide what we will do with what we have and what we are prepared to give out of who we are.

The first step is to work to understand our own true value and by understanding to appreciate self. It’s only by understanding that we all matter and that it is within us all not only to make a difference to the person we are but to help others along their journey of self-discovery that we will start to find our reason for being.
