Who we are today is the sum total of what we did with all of our yesterdays. The person we are is a person of our own making.
At this very point in time it’s not possible to be another version of us. We are individual. We are unique. We are who we are. We know what we know. We think what we think.
We can choose to stay as we are or we can choose to grow. The decision is ours and ours alone. Growth, though, is a process. It requires effort and focus. And true growth, true change is incremental. It takes time.
Acceptance of self leads to understanding of the who that we are and understanding leads to change into the who that we can be…but only if change is what we want.
Just as today’s version of who we are is an expression of yesterday’s version of who we were, tomorrow’s version of who we will become is a reflection of what we are doing today. Present actions point to future outcomes.
It’s altogether possible to alter a predictable future. We can, for example, swap the path of self-destruction for the path of self-fulfillment. Adjustments to thinking and lifestyle made in our today can value-ad to our tomorrow.
If tomorrow’s version of us is an improvement on who we are today then progress has been made. If we both know ourselves and like ourselves a little better tomorrow than we do today then our lives are getting better.
Yesterday is gone and tomorrow awaits. Today is a good time to start. It’s the best time to start. Here and now. We have the moment and there is no-one who can seize the moment for us.
The decision is ours. The effort is ours. The rewards will be ours.
