It’s not possible to be all things to all people all the time. The target audience is far too big; it’s requirements all too demanding. Attempting to achieve the impossible can only end in disappointment.
The more effort we put into broadening our appeal, the greater is the risk we run of diminishing it. By trying to be so much more we can become so much less.
It makes sense, therefore, to work on our focus because it’s by helping the few that we can hope to reach the many.
A great many people work on the pay-it-forward principle. If someone shows them some compassion and assistance when it’s most needed then there’s a greater chance that the recipient will become the giver somewhere down the line.
Kindness works. It breeds kindness and feeds good conscience.
Those who have achieved the most success when it comes to promoting better mental health and attitude and reduced stress levels may well have been thinking globally but they were more than likely acting locally. An individual of good intent needs to act individually with another individual in need.
The ripple effect from one good deed or a number of good words in the right place and at the right time is incalculable and immeasurable. And that’s the way it should be. The initiator should not be gauging success from results. Real time reactions can be a false indicator of long-term success.
The practicality of a plan comes from the mind of its creator. The implementation comes from their heart. The two elements when working in unison can change the life trajectory of an otherwise troubled and lost person.
The fact that the best of intentions when put into action can sometimes produce no obvious positive result should be no deterrent.
People are worth the effort.
