Most of us spend far more time and effort being reactive rather than being proactive. We sit back and wait for something to happen instead of taking the steps to make something happen. We are more content to follow than we are to lead.
The result is often dissatisfaction and disappointment. We are left feeling unfilled and that leads to a self-assessment of inadequacy. It’s when perception becomes belief that we encounter our most serious problems.
The reality is that we are in a perpetual state of playing catch-up…with the world and with ourselves. And that can be soul destroying.
The truth of the matter is that right here, right now we are enough. Today we are the sum total of everything that has preceded us. Everyone has worth. Everyone has value.
But while we may be enough for now we should commit to being more for tomorrow. There will always be room for improvement just as there will always be capacity for change. Expectation is something that comes from without…hopes and dreams come from within. The future can be a blend of both.
It’s within our power to relearn, reshape and reinvent. The person we have become may be who we are but not who we have to be.
A significant part of the strategy for emotional well-being is to refuse to believe everything we hear. Rarely is that more important than when it comes to dealing with what we are telling ourselves.
Too many of us as too quick to feed our own negativity. We ignore the positive possibilities at our own peril.
Perception is not reality because perception is shaped by personality. Reality is what ensues when personalities entwine. We have to live with each other. Even more so we have to live with ourselves.
Live life. Love life.
